This huge live-edge, black walnut serving board was originally two pieces full of holes when milled. But after planning, sanding, pouring a custom transparent river, and filling all cracks, checks, and knots with food-safe black epoxy resin, new life has sprung from old wood.
Now, the natural beauty and character of this unique piece is respected and protected.
It was sanded up to 220 grit (meaning that the grain will be silky smooth to the touch) and was finished with food in mind. Food-grade black epoxy resin and natural Odie's Oil were the only materials used in the revitalization process.

While I take all the proper steps in the building process, like kiln drying, stabilization, bracing, and proper finishing, real wood can bow, crown, or split on occasion. Each piece will be as unique as the natural wood that we work with.
